Regulations

Oil tank installations are covered by number of regulations. These include the Building Regulations (part J), The Control of Pollution (Oil Storage) (England) Regulations 2001 and BS5410.

Failure to comply with these regulations can result in having to pay fines in the event of an oil spillage or pollution incident. In the event of a fire you might find that your insurance company will not honour the claim if the installation is not up to standard.

Often failure to comply with the above regulations will also result in the manufacturer’s warranty on a new tank being invalidated.
